Personally, I'm still confused as to how Chen is alive. They keep hinting that something happened to revive him, but they never explain it, yet it's hinted to Mathew that this was the case. That and the conversation between them is never finished. There are a lot of unanswered questions.
For example, why is Jawarski always in the background in a water tank in certain episodes when Kiera sees the Freelancers? In a previous timeline Travis was in one to. Could it be that the Freelancers are preparing to revive him and that's how they revived Curtis?
But if not, I don't see why they're having him as a prop in the background, after all, he isn't currently contributing to the current story except in flashbacks. So why keep him around particularily in episodes that don't concern him? (Admittedly I'd like to see more of his character though.)
That, and I'm still confused as to the rules of time travel in the show and how it works. Things that I have read state that the creators have set rules, but if that is the case the rules are currently not being explained very well to us.
That, and maybe it's just me but considering that the freelancers are trying to create Corporate Congress (I believe that they're behind it), then why aren't they seeing that the PIron Alec appears to be way worse than Corporate Congress Alec and not the Alec that they seem to be expecting in the future? After all, Corporate Alec headed SadTech, whereas this one heads Piron and merges the two companies. Plus there are numerous other decisions that Piron Alec makes that aren't what Corporate Alec would make. He's really changed too much. I miss the innocent Alec that saved Emily. I hope they end up with him instead. Personally I prefer the Alec that saved Emily.
Either way, because of this, it makes me think that the Freelancers have a hidden agenda because they would undoubtedly know this and seem to have no problem with it. It makes me think they are behind Corporate Congress after all and are perhaps trying to create something worse. Maybe the lower freelancers don't know this and only the priviledged freelancers high up know. Thus it may be why Katherine communicates with other timelines and it appears that no one is with her when this happens. Maybe Chen figured it out realized it and decided that he didn't want to be apart of it anymore because he felt threatened by it.
That, and then there's Alec's father that was a Freelancer. I was under the impression that he left the Freelancers, but the way this season's behaving it seems like Marc was still in contact with them and working for them. It makes me wonder the real reason he left his wife and child. That, and his wife seemed to know that he was still alive. She seems to be hiding something. After all, she confirmed to Alec that Escher was Marc. I wonder if she knows about the freelancers.
And as far as Escher is concerned, it was previously mentioned that the freelancers were behind some of the technological marvels of history. And what about Jason? He doesn't seem to like his grandfather very much, and he obviously knows who his grandfather is. And I believe that Escher knows that Jason is his grandson. Wow, having your own grandson imprisoned by your freelancer associates, harsh!
So all in all, in relation to Curtis, including his change in behavior, I seem to think that whatever the Freelancers did when they revived him cleared his head somewhat, at least for the time being. That, and I think he's still a Liber8 member at heart, he's just imbedding himself with the freelancers for whatever his agenda is. Some of the former Liber8 members have developed their own agendas, Chen for one, and Kellog for another.
Another confusing scenario, Kellog and Chen. Chen didn't seem to like Kellog very well, so why is he teaming up with him now? After all, he did once try to kill Kellog and then Kellog managed to get him killed. Another thing that doesn't make sense. Personally, Kellog is so into himself and obviously not into the cause of Liber8 that I don't know why he was every with Liber8 to begin with. Yeah, his sister died and all that, but considering his personality, I just don't understand how he ended up sticking with Liber8 for so long. Surely Liber8 would have realized that he had his own agenda well before the events that sent them back to 2012? Surely they would have realized that he wasn't ever truly on their side?
And yet in the beginning episode, they seem to think that he's loyal to them or something. But he didn't waste too long showing his true colors. He's almost like one of the corporates now. So why they continue to tolerate him is beyond me, and why Curtis tolerates him and works with him is beyond me. Especially since I suspect that Curtis had suspicions that he wasn't truly on their side. I think that's why he went after him to begin with. And then Kellog made up the story that Curtis wanted leadership of Liber8 (which it never seemed to me was the case). I think that Curtis merely wanted him out of the way because he considered him a threat.
So why help Kellog now? Why go to Mathew first? There were others I'm sure he could have gone to first, and no sane person would go to their killer for help. I'm sure if he put up the "I infiltrated the freelancers" Liber8 might be willing to at least hear him out. After all, they still interact with Mathew from time to time even though he's no longer one of them.
That's a small list of my questions that I hope the show answers. That, and I hope that Curtis' character is explained more because he's quite the mystery.
